CANDLEMASS Win Swedish 'GRAMMY' Award For 'Best Hard Rock' Album
February 8, 2006CANDLEMASS won a Swedish "Grammy" award in the "Best Hard Rock" category, beating out the likes of HAMMERFALL, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, MESHUGGAH and OPETH. The Swedish doom legends were honored for their self-titled 2005 opus, which is available on Nuclear Blast Records.
EVERGREY were nominated in the "Best Music DVD" category their "A Night to Remember" set, but lost to the legendary Swedish pop veterans ABBA.
The "Grammis" awards ceremony was held Tuesday night, February 7 at Cirkus in Stockholm.
CANDLEMASS are tentatively scheduled to record a new EP in late February with producer Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD) at Polar Studios in Stockholm. The group have also scheduled a South American tour in March. Five back-catalog items from the band — "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", "Ancient Dreams", "Doomed for Live", "Nightfall", and "Essential Doom" — are being issued in the U.S. via Candlelight in February.
